Mansfield Fellow Michael Luke Deckard (United States Air Force) was a featured speaker at the Foundation’s next joint seminar with the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) in Tokyo. Major Deckard outlined the history and concept of the United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM) as a Unified Command. He also explained the structure and core activities of SOCOM. Major Deckard, who has fourteen years of experience in the U.S. Air Force as part of Air Force Special Operations Command, shared some of his operational experiences in the Asia-Pacific region at the February 8 seminar.
