Connecting People & Ideas to Advance Mutual Interests in U.S.-Asia Relations

On June 11, 2013, the Mansfield Foundation hosted a panel discussion on “Current Challenges in U.S.-Asia Trade and Investment: Perspectives from American Chambers of Commerce in Asia.” The discussion featured representatives of the Asia-Pacific Council of American Chambers of Commerce and regional American Chambers of Commerce. Steve Okun, Tom Clark, Richard Vuylsteke and George Drysdale addressed key issues in America’s trade and economic relations with Asia. Moderated by Deputy Executive Director David Boling, the discussion addressed Japan’s progress on Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) membership; ongoing trade liberalization efforts in Asia, including recent key APEC meetings; political and economic changes in China; and the unprecedented economic boom currently underway in the Philippines. The discussion was part of the Foundation’s Capitol Hill Asia Policy Dialogue Series, which is supported by its Corporate Affiliates.
