U.S.-Japan Network for the Future Cohort I scholar Daniel Aldrich (Associate Professor of Public Policy, Purdue University) examines “Japan’s Post-Fukushima Nuclear Power Program,” in a recent commentary piece for the Foundation. Looking at a series of 2014 polls from the Mansfield Foundation’s Asian Opinion Poll Database (AOPD), Dr. Aldrich notes that “Broader public opinion on the issue of nuclear power in Japan has decisively shifted against nuclear power since the disaster…” AOPD contains the results of policy-oriented public opinion surveys by major Asian news and polling agencies, almost all of which were previously unavailable in English. In the months ahead the Foundation hopes to post new commentary and analysis of recent polls in the database by several leading Asia experts.
