Vivian Tokai is a government affairs and public policy professional with 25 years of experience covering a wide variety of sectors, including energy, environment, aviation, transportation, defense, IT, and digital economy.
Most recently, she served as Director, Government Affairs at Intel Corporation based in Tokyo, with responsibility for developing and implementing a comprehensive government relations strategy for Intel Japan to ensure a supportive semiconductor policy and regulatory environment for intel’s growth and operations.
She has extensive senior leadership experience with a wide range of blue-chip multinational businesses in Japan. Prior to joining Intel, she led Japan government relations activities at UPS, GE, Facebook, eBay and Honeywell. She served as Chief Diversity Officer at Citigroup in Japan and was selected as Women’s Leadership member at GE.
She started her career in journalism, and was a news anchor and writer for The Sports Nippon News, Tokyo Broadcasting System, and NHK.
She has taught business management and journalism courses as a visiting lecturer at Chuo University and Visiting Professor at Showa Women’s University. She was a Visiting Fellow at the George Washington University Graduate School of Political Management and a Fellow with the Matsushita Institute of Government and Management.
Ms. Tokai holds a BA in Japanese Literature from Kyoto Women’s University and an MS in Broadcast Journalism from Boston University.
