John Fei is a Senior Fellow at the Mansfield Foundation, where he focuses on the political economy of the Asia Pacific. Most recently, Dr. Fei managed international capacity building programs and assessed China’s foreign economic policies as Senior Consultant and Program Officer at the nonpartisan International Republican Institute.
Dr. Fei has also worked at Morningstar, and previously managed the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation’s Asia Security Initiative—a grantmaking program supporting research that informed policy making pertaining to Asian security and regional relations. Prior to MacArthur, he researched Asia’s defense, security, and political economy developments at the RAND Corporation and the University of California, San Diego.
Dr. Fei holds a PhD in Policy Analysis from the Pardee RAND Graduate School, an MA in Regional Studies-East Asia from Harvard University, and a BA, cum laude, from Williams College with honors in chemistry.
