U.S.-Japan Nuclear Working Group Public Seminar in Vienna

The Foundation’s U.S.-Japan Nuclear Working Group will hold a public seminar in Vienna, Austria on “Global Security, Safety, and Nuclear Governance After Fukushima” February 18 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.   The event will be co-hosted by the Vienna Center for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation (VCDNP), the Federation of American Scientists, and the Sasakawa Peace Foundation.  Working Group members Ralph Cossa (Center for Strategic and International Studies, Pacific Forum), Takuya Hattori (Japan Atomic Industrial Forum), and Nobuo Tanaka (Institute of Energy Economics, Former Executive Director, International Energy Agency) will discuss the impact of the Fukushima disaster on global nuclear governance, Japan’s nuclear energy activities, and Japan-U.S. nuclear collaboration.   The U.S.-Japan Nuclear Working Group is an independent, bi-national group of experts that has been convened to examine strategic implications of Japan’s nuclear emergency that transcend nuclear power ideology and preferences.  Further information about the February 18 event will be available on the VCDNP website.
