Asan Public Opinion Brief – November 17 – December 2, 2012

Key Issues
  • North Korea announced a plan to launch long-range missile. The launch window is December 10 through December 22. South Korea’s presidential election is December 19.
  • Such an announcement is widely speculated to help the conservative party’s Park Geun-Hye.
  • However, when asked which candidate was most capable of handling inter-Korean relations, 44.8% cited Madame Park while 40.6% cited Moon Jae-In.
  • Note: This question was fielded from November 30 to December 1. Thus, some part of the sample likely did not know about the North Korea launch announcement.
