Methodology

The poll was conducted by telephone on July 7 and 8, 2007; July 14 and 15, 2007; and July 21 and 22, 2007, of voters from across Japan using a three-stage random sampling method (the Asahi RDD). The total number of those polled was: 1065 on July 7-8, with a 65% response rate; 1118 on July 14-15, with a 65% rate; and 1018 on July 21-22, with a 57% response rate.
