Japanese Public Opinion on “Womenomics”

Mansfield Fellow Rachel Ianacone considers Japanese public opinion on women in the workforce and Prime Minister Abe’s “womenomics” policies in a recent commentary piece for the Mansfield Foundation. Using polls from the Mansfield Foundation’s Asian Opinion Poll Database (AOPD) and other sources, Captain Ianacone examines survey questions related to the Abe administration’s goal of increasing the number of women in leadership positions. She concludes that a “critical question is whether Japanese society will be able to adapt quickly enough to facilitate a larger percentage of females in the workplace…”
