The Application and Selection Process

Application Deadline is 5:00 p.m.(ET) on April 1, 2011.

 

Important Information for Applicants

 

You must submit 7 copies (one original and 6 duplicates) of the application and supplementary materials to the Mansfield Foundation's Washington, D.C., office by mail or courier no later than April 1, 2011. The pages of each application must be 3-hole punched and held together with a clip, not staples. DO NOT return completed applications by e-mail or fax, or on a disk. E-mailed or faxed applications or applications on diskette will not be accepted. Please review all other instructions on the application.

 

April 1, 2011: Seven copies of the completed application— one original and six duplicates—due at the Washington, D.C., office of The Maureen and Mike Mansfield Foundation.

Late April: Notification of applicants who are selected for personal interviews.

May 2011: Interviews in Washington, D.C. A travel allowance to cover transportation, overnight accommodations and meals is available to Fellowship candidates who live outside the Washington, D.C., area.

June 2011: Fellowships awarded.

July 2011: Fellows, agency representatives and the Mansfield Foundation sign three-party contracts.

September 2011: Program participation begins.

July 2012: Fellows depart for Japan.
