Yoichi Morishita is corporate counsellor of Panasonic Corporation, which he joined in 1957. In 1987 he became a member of Panasonic’s board. In 1993 he became President, and in 2000 he became chairman of the board. He has been an active participant in the Japanese Federation of Economic Organizations (Keidanren), most recently serving as its vice chairman. He also has served as chairman of several Japanese government councils as well as the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association and the Japan Electrical Manufacturers’ Association. Mr. Morishita has received numerous awards, including the Medal with Blue Ribbon from the Emperor of Japan.
